She has a real understanding of the genre and can knock off the rapid fancy…as well as the dreamy meditation. Her greatest talent is for a flexibilty of phrasing that always sings. These are in the best sense sympathetic performances and should give pleasure.
This attractive Russian collection is a worthy extension of Fingerhut's catalog. Her insistence on rich colors and her firm concentration on melodic shape serves this heart-on-sleeve repertoire well…Recommended.
All these pieces get a delicate sympathetic treatment in the playing of Margaret Fingerhut.
